【海外発！Breaking News】約3億円を費やした噴水が「世界で最も醜い」と猛バッシング浴びる（オーストリア）＜動画あり＞

公共の場における現代美術の位置づけについては様々な議論の余地があるが、今回の噴水の件で批判のやり玉にあがったのは、その制作費用である。2024年の議会選挙の世論調査でトップを走る極右政党FPÖの党首ヘルベルト・キックル氏（Herbert Kickl）は、Facebookで「超がつくほどの物価高騰の時代における贅沢だ」と今回の噴水プロジェクトを非難した。

なおウィーン自治体によると、すべての像には透明な落書き防止加工が施されているというが、噴水のお披露目から1週間も経たないうちに、像のいくつかは何者かによって黒い涙の落書きがされるという事態になっている。
