同じような事故は昨夏、インドでも起きており、海岸の岩場で写真や動画撮影をしていた夫婦が波に呑まれ、妻が死亡した。当時の様子を捉えた動画はSNSで拡散し、「これは悲劇」「自ら命を落としにいったも同然」「海を甘く見たらいけないよ」といったコメントが見受けられた。
