スウェーデン・ストックホルム出身でドイツ・ベルリン在住のアーティスト、アンナ・ウッデンベルグ（Anna Uddenberg）。消費者文化のフィードバック・ループを通して、アンナは身体文化やスピリチュアリティ、自己上演が、新しいテクノロジーと循環のフォームによる主観性の生産と仲介がどのように絡み合っているかを探求している。彼女のプラクティスは、テイストや階級、占有、セクシュアリティを反映する空間ージェンダー理論への初期アプローチを統合し、これらの質問を新しい物質領域に押し込むことだ。ジェンダーをリハーサルの行為として演じるジュディス・バトラー（Judith Bulter）の考えが彼女の作品のベース。パフォーマンスを模索するためのヴィジュアル・プラットフォームとして彫刻とパフォーマンスを使用し、現代の消費文化における女性のアイデンティティと常に向き合い続けている。最新の非具象的な作品では、車をはじめ実用的な構造で作られたコンフォートゾーンの概念と建築の代用品を参考に作られたもの。まるで家具のようなその見解は、お互いの新しい対話でそれらを再構築することによって、リラックスし、親密であることを意味する商業空間でのコンフォートレベルの交渉を妥協する瞬間を課すのだ。異なるものと身近なもの、さまざまな社会的に識別可能なかたちや材料の組み合わせは、視覚的かつパフォーマンス的な言語を通して既存の正常性を再評価する必要性において、商業的オブジェクト全体との人間関係を包括し、習慣的な身体と物体が一緒になる別あるいは異なる機会を示唆している。


Anna Uddenberg, born 1982 in Stockholm, Sweden, lives and works in Berlin. Through the feedback loop of consumerist culture Anna Uddenberg investigates how body culture, spirituality, and self-staging are intertwined with the mediation and production of subjectivity by new technologies and forms of circulation. Her practice is a space for reflecting on taste/class, appropriation, and sexuality, which integrates earlier approaches to gender theory while pushing these questions into new material territories. Based on Judith Butler’s idea of performing a gender as a rehearsed act, Uddenberg’s work continues to confront feminine identity in consumer culture by using sculpture and performance as a visual platform in order to explore performativity. Her latest non-figurative works made with cars’ skeletons and other utilitarian structures refer to the concept of comfort zone and proxies for architecture. Their furnituresque outlook imposes compromising moments of negotiating comfort levels in commercial spaces that are meant to be relaxing and intimate, by reassembling them in new dialogue with each other. The combination of both alien and familiar, as well as various socially identifiable forms and materials, unpack the human relationship to commercial objects as a whole, in the need to re-evaluate existing normalities through visual and performative language, and to suggest other/alien opportunities for habitual bodies and objects to be together.
