熱波に見舞われたロンドン、エアコンのない地下鉄は危険な高温に

鉄道はいずれも、高温でレールが歪む恐れがあることから各所で減速運転をしており、遅延などが発生している。ロンドン中心部から南東郊外へ向かうサウスイースタン鉄道は、利用客に対して「どうしても必要な」場合以外は乗車を避けるよう求めている。その他の鉄道会社ではまったく利用しないように呼び掛けているところもある。

今週、西ヨーロッパの大半の地域が、過去最高の高温に見舞われている。パリでは過去最高気温の40.6度を観測、オランダでも25日に過去最高気温39.2度を観測した。

イギリス気象庁は、「気候変動によって、ヨーロッパ全域が熱波に見舞われる可能性が高まり、そのレベルも悪化している」という見解を示している。
