ウエスタンデジタル、窪小谷 良一 を北上工場（岩手県）の生産技術統括に任命

ウエスタンデジタルコーポレーション（以下、ウエスタンデジタル）は本日、サンディスク株式会社のバイスプレジデント 窪小谷 良一（くぼこや・りょういち）を 東芝メモリ株式会社(以下、東芝メモリ)とのNANDフラッシュメモリー合弁事業（ジョイント・ベンチャー）において新設予定の北上工場（東芝メモリ岩手株式会社）のウエスタンデジタルの生産技術統括に、同日付けで任命したことを発表いたしました。

北上工場は、東芝メモリとのNANDフラッシュメモリー合弁事業において、四日市工場と並ぶ重要なフラッシュメモリーの生産拠点となります。北上新棟は2019年秋に竣工を予定しており、２０２０年からの96層３次元フラッシュメモリーの生産に向けた共同設備投資を実施し、同年後半にかけて生産体制を構築します。同時に、岩手県及び北上市を含めた周辺地域へ貢献することも目指します。

今後、北上工場の生産技術統括という重要な責務を担う、窪小谷良一は、2018年12月にウエスタンデジタルコーポレーションの100%子会社であるサンディスク株式会社のバイスプレジデントとして入社しました。ウエスタンデジタル入社以前は、株式会社デンソー岩手を設立し、初代社長として事業運営に取り組みました。

ウエスタンデジタル ジャパン プレジデントの小池淳義は、次のように述べています。「ウエスタンデジタルは、売り上げの約半分をフラッシュメモリービジネスが占めており、世界中のお客様に販売するメモリー製品の基幹部品となるフラッシュメモリーの生産は日本で行っています。今後の大きな成長が見込まれるフラッシュメモリービジネスへの期待は大きく、北上新棟の運営は非常に重要な役割を果たします。窪小谷が北上のオペレーション責任者としてその期待に応えてくれると確信しています」

名古屋工業大学で材料工学の学士号および修士号を取得。北上工場に勤務し、ウエスタンデジタル ジャパン プレジデントの小池淳義の直属となります。
