BAPE(R)のアイコンが仕込まれたタフなコラボウォッチが登場

これまで幾度と実現してきた「A BATHING APE(R)」と「G-SHOCK」によるコラボレーションウォッチの新作が、
2020年3月21日(土)に登場する。
文字盤、バックライト、ベルトに仕掛けられた「A BATHING APE(R)」のデザインが光る、タフで遊び心の効いた新作コラボレーション情報をお届け。

1983年の誕生以来、タフネスを追求し進化を続ける、「CASIO」が誇る名機「G-SHOCK」。日々の生活に欠かせない時計に、タフネスというこれまでなかった概念を築き上げ、誕生から四半世紀以上経った今でもシーン最前線で愛され続けている。そんな、腕時計のパイオニアともいえる「G-SHOCK」の名作が、「A BATHING APE(R)」とのコラボレーションにより、2020年3月21日(土)にBAPE.COM WEB STORE、ZOZOTOWNで限定リリースされる。
ベースとなるモデルは、設立当初の1987年に誕生した「G-SHOCK」初期の丸型ベーシックモデル「DW-5700」シリーズを、現代の最先端技術を駆使して蘇らせた「DW-5750」。生誕35周年を迎えた2018年に「原点回帰」をテーマに完全復刻された「DW-5750」を、「A BATHING APE(R)」カラーに染め上げ、本コラボレーションプロダクトが完成。レッドとホワイトを基調としたポップなカラーリングをベースに、ベルト部分には「STA」モチーフ、文字盤には「A BATHING APE(R)」のオリジナルカモ柄をあしらいメイク。さらに、暗闇でバックライトを照らすと「エイプヘッド」が浮き上がってくるという、遊び心の効いたギミックもポイントだ。
日本では未発売ながら、著名ミュージシャンなどが愛用したこともあり人気を博した伝説のモデル「DW-5700」のDNAを受け継いだ「DW-5750」と「A BATHING APE(R)」のアイコンがひとつになった本コラボレーションプロダクト。両ブランドが培ってきた革新的な技術やデザイン、そして歴史とストーリーが詰め込まれたエクスクルーシブな本作に注目してほしい。

A BATHING APE(R) is once again collaborating with G-SHOCK to introduce a new watch on March 21st, 2020. BAPE(R)’s iconic motifs boast a strong presence on the watch face, backlight and strap.
Since its creation in 1983, the famous G-SHOCK by CASIO has evolved continually in pursuit of toughness. It brought the new concept of toughness to wristwatches, an indispensable item of everyday life. Even today, a quarter of a century since its creation, the watch continues to be a beloved item at the forefront of the wristwatch scene. A collaboration between G-SHOCK, which could be referred to as a wristwatch pioneer, and A BATHING APE(R) will be released on March 21st, 2020 exclusively on BAPE.COM and ZOZOTOWN.
The model that is being used as the basis is the first basic G-SHOCK model with a round face, the ‘DW-5700’ series, first released in 1987. This model has been brought back to life as the ‘DW-5750’ in 2018 for the 35th anniversary of G-SHOCK, reissued under the theme of ‘Back to the basics’ but making use of contemporary cutting-edge technology. For this collaboration, the watch face is dyed with A BATHING APE(R)’s striking red color and camo peeking out, accompanied with a white strap featuring the BAPE STA™ logo. There is also a playful feature where the ape head appears when the backlight is turned on in the dark.
This collaboration brings together the icons of A BATHING APE(R) and ‘DW-5750’ – which inherited the DNA of the legendary ‘DW-5700’ model. The reissued model is highly exclusive, being the favorite of famous musicians and never before released in Japan.
