Nadia Bedzhanova and Sachiko Clyde : League of Their Own

非接触の時代とスポーツにインスパイアされたファッションシュートがNYCから届いた。以前とは決して同じではないこの社会で開催されたスポーツの祭典と、未曾有の非接触の時代を体験する我々ーーロシア出身、NYを拠点とするフィルム・ディレクターNadia Bedzhanovaと同じくNYを拠点とするクリエイターたちが生みだしたクリエイション。（→ in English)


アーティストステイトメントは以下。


東京オリンピック、サッカー欧州選手権、USオープンにインスパイアされた「League of Your Own」は、ニューヨークのブルックリンにあるマッカレン公園の中央のトラックで複数のスポーツを行うAngela AltidorとLourden Berezの姿を撮ったもの。


1年の孤立ののちに行われたオリンピックのようなイベントは、それを観ている人たちを含む全ての人々の心をまとめあげたように思います。触れられない1年を同じように体験した私たちは同じチームの仲間のようであり、人々が協力して初めて成功するスポーツマンシップに基づいたイベントと似ているように思えます。NadiaとSachikoはそのコンセプトをもとに本エディトリアルをつくりあげました。


AngelaとLourdenは世界中のデザイナーの衣装を着用しています。ペルーで作られてアルゼンチンのデザイナーから発信されたDelfina Balda、カリフォルニアのKkco、コペンハーゲンのGanni、LAでデザインされたイタリア製のLabucq Shoes、アイルランドのSimone Rochaなど、今年はファッションとスポーツを融合させたようなもの、そしてスポーツ観戦とはちょっと違うけどスポーツを観戦するようなスタイルと類似したものが多かったように思います。それは、現在の社会以前の様子を彷彿とさせるものでありながら、ちょっと奇異にも、新しく、そして刺激的にも感じさせるものでした。

Statement:


Inspired by the Tokyo Olympics, Euro Cup, and the US Open, A League of Their Own features Angela Altidor and Lourden Berez playing multiple sports on one central track in McCarren Park in Brooklyn, New York.


After a year of solitude, an event like the Olympics brings everyone together including the viewers worldwide. The juxtaposition between a year without touching, where one often felt like a team of their own, to an event that is built on sportsmanship that only succeeds when people work together inspired Nadia and Sachiko to conceptualize this editorial.


Angela and Lourden wear pieces from designers around the world including but not limited to Delfina Balda from Argentina and made in Peru, Kkco from California, Ganni from Copenhagen, Labucq shoes designed in LA and made in Italy, and Simone Rocha from Ireland to create another juxtaposition which meshes fashion and sports in a way that is different yet also similar to the way watching sports come together felt this year. It felt odd, new, and exciting while still being familiar and reminiscent of a time before the current social atmosphere.
