特殊な望遠鏡を太陽に向ければ、その錯覚は一気に吹き飛び、太陽が内部でいかに激しく活動しているかが見えてくる。太陽は恒星だ。つまり、基本的には、膨大な熱量を持つ物質が、巨大な球状の塊になっている。それだけエネルギーが渦巻いていれば、表面で時々爆発が起こったりするのは避けられない。
